Tell your MP: Fix The Child Maintenance Service

The Child Maintenance Service (CMS) exists to ensure children receive the financial support they’re entitled to.

But as it stands, the service is failing to fulfil that purpose.

On 17 August 2026, BBC Panorama highlighted the experiences of separated parents and their children who rely on the Child Maintenance Service (CMS) across the UK.

A fair and effective child maintenance system could reduce child poverty by 25% in the UK.

Yet thousands of children are missing out on vital financial support, while many victim-survivors remain vulnerable to economic abuse.

The government has the power to change this.

It'll only take a minute to enter your name, email address and postcode to send an email to your MP.

Your email will ask your MP to support urgent CMS reform and meet with Gingerbread to explore how they can help push for change in Parliament.

Single parents and their children can't afford to wait. Reform is urgently needed.
